Makers empowers a new generation of Producers with the skills, community, and technology to solve the world’s challenges, fostering a more collaborative future together.

TL;DR: Makers is cultivating a new breed of Producer, equipped to solve global problems through collaboration and creativity. Starting from advertising, expanding globally, and into various disciplines, we're developing a tech platform and a school to foster this mission. Our goal is to become the central hub for making anything, anywhere.

I still remember my first day of junior kindergarten, nervously walking into class and seeing unfamiliar faces. To calm my nerves, I started building a spaceship with large blocks. Soon, another curious kid joined in, and before long, the entire class was working together. As kids, long before we learn to read and write, we learn to work and play together with no need for a “leader”; we just need someone to inspire us with “let’s build a spaceship” and we do it. That day, two neurons seared in my brain: the power of collaboration and the joy of making things together.

Today, the world is facing a crisis of collaboration, with a growing inability to work together to confront major challenges, such as climate change, pandemics, and a range of political and social issues. In my view, there is a missing discipline that can foster the deep collaboration that children so effortlessly wield. This is akin to the role of a conductor in an orchestra, bringing together disparate skills to create a unified force that can solve the toughest challenges. For me, this discipline is embodied by Producers.

Today, the world is facing a crisis of collaboration, with a growing inability to work together.

While Producers traditionally live in the arts and entertainment world, their core skills extend far beyond that. They bring together story and craft, art and science, technology and humanity to create incredible outcomes. I want to take this skill, upgrade it, codify it, and designate it like we do for Doctors, Lawyers, Architects, Engineers, and Accountants. With this resource, we can bring people together, cultivate an environment of collaboration, curiosity and creativity to tackle any challenge.

So, how do we get there? At Makers, we're on a mission to empower a new generation of Producers. Our journey is broken down into stages, and we're tackling each one with determination and innovation. Here's a glimpse into our story so far and our plans for the future:

At Makers, we're on a mission to empower a new generation of Producers.

We are Makers.

Building a foundation: Makers was started 6 years ago by demonstrating that our team of Producers could make anything. We began in advertising, as Producers in this industry create more things in their lifetime than in any other version of producing (project or product management). This allowed us to connect with real people and learn to solve real problems.

Diversifying our portfolio: We expanded into entertainment, producing documentaries, feature films, and TV series. This not only showcases our Producers' abilities but also benefits our advertising clients.

Going global: We integrated a vetted network of over 11,000 Producers in 173 countries to demonstrate that our standards are applicable worldwide. The more diverse voices at the table, the better our ideas and solutions.

We integrated a vetted network of over 11,000 Producers in 173 countries to demonstrate that our standards are applicable worldwide.

Our future plans include:

Tech-driven growth: We’re building our own software platform, Makers Central, enabling our team to collaborate, learn, and produce at an unprecedented scale. This internal platform helps us refine our processes and stay at the cutting edge of technology. When we want to make a change to how we produce, we can simply update Makers Central and every connected Producer benefits from the new learning instantly. We will eventually make our platform tools accessible externally connecting people with ideas to Makers around the world as well as providing resources and technology for production.

Moving Producers outside of arts and entertainment: We'll add disciplines to prove that Producers are valuable in various fields by making real things and solving real problems.

Advancing innovation: We'll work with existing companies spearheading unique collaborations - we’ll prototype, test, and fabricate to advance the state of the art in various industries.

Building eco-friendly infrastructure: We'll get involved in construction and advanced manufacturing to create more sustainable buildings and products.

Codifying the Makers process: We'll discover, record, and share our scientific method of producing so that anyone can use it to make anything.

Building a school: We'll train new Producers from the ground up, ensuring education is accessible and affordable.

Ultimately, we envision becoming the central platform for getting anything made globally. We'll have a school to train and certify Producers in our process, and together, we'll tackle the world's toughest challenges. Imagine what we could solve if we could truly unite smart, creative “get shit done” people from around the globe. In the words of John Lennon, "A dream we dream alone is just a dream. A dream we dream together is reality." So, let's dream together and build a better world.

After all, we are all dreamers and Makers in our own right. ?
