We partnered with Buildspace, a San Francisco-based incubator, to produce their Season 5 IRL (in real life) event at the historic Gateway Pavilion. With 1,000 startups attending, this large-scale production required precise planning, seamless coordination, and a hands-on approach. Buildspace’s ethos of “just go make it” was not just an idea—we brought it to life by executing complex, DIY-inspired designs while maintaining a high standard of production quality.
One of the most ambitious elements was the creation of a dramatic entryway arch made entirely out of colorful milk crates. While simple in concept, the logistics of constructing such an impactful piece required careful planning and collaboration between Makers and Buildspace. Our producers oversaw every step, from sourcing materials and ensuring structural integrity to coordinating on-site teams, all while meeting tight deadlines and adhering to safety regulations. We also designed and produced multiple event spaces that reflected Buildspace’s unique house structure, transforming the venue into an engaging environment for guests to collaborate with one another.
From start to finish, our production team handled event design, fabrication, decor and branding, event staffing, food & beverage, programming, A/V, event logistics, install and event breakdown.
The success of the event wasn’t just in the creative elements but in the flawless execution. The feedback was overwhelming—attendees praised not only the experience but the level of organization and professionalism that allowed them to focus on what mattered: launching their next big ideas. This project demonstrated Makers’ ability to bring ambitious visions to life through meticulous production and logistics, ensuring that Buildspace’s IRL event was a smooth, inspiring, and unforgettable experience.
